Pick The Song For Twilight [Round 2]

1. Some of the lyrics in Lion apply to Twilight, but I’m just not getting the whole feel for the song. Don’t know why.

2. Wow. The song I suggested didn’t make it in the top ten, but I’m not disappointed because these songs are just so amazingly perfect for Twilight. I simply could not decide between Iris and Lion, so I chose both. I think that, maybe both should be chosen because when I heard those songs, it was like Iris described how Edward probably thought or felt and Lion described how Bella felt.
   And, okay, Lion was written for the Chronicles of Narnia movie, but I actually think it describes Twilight better. Plus, it’s a beautiful song; just listen to the lyrics!

3. Guys, i know it’s been said, but Iris doesn’t fit in with twilight whatsoever, i think you’re all getting confused with the metaphors. It’s about a break up, or the loss of someone, and basically telling them how much they need them, but that they are letting them go. I guess you could twist the lyrics around and if you take them literally they’ll work for twilight, but it’s really not what the song is about. I know it’s upsetting, ’cause it’s a really good song, but maybe we should chose a song where the lyrics fit a little better? Lion on Time is Running Out are good choices *wink wink nudge nudge*

4. i voted for your guardian angel because i thought it so fit twilight and how edward saves her and all.
   I also like the song.

5. Dang it! I so was going to suggest Here(In Your Arms)! But my computer wouldn’t work so I could suggest it in the beginning. I decided when I first read Twilight that that WAS THE SONG!

   some lines stood out to me:

   Feels like I’m living in a lion’s mouth, but the lion is (an angel) (**lion and the lamb….)

   Your gentleness melts me (Bella always stops breathing or her heart goes crazy)

   But in my weakness
   You are here and all is well (sums up how she feels for him…)

   That is why Lion makes a great song for them

7. Lion seems as if it’s talking more about God or a higher being than a about a lover.

8. Edward is an immortal, not so much a god, though sometimes Bella does view him as an angel.

    Those lyrics remind me so much of when Edward is telling Bella that he’s dangerous and a bad guy, but she says “no, I don’t believe that you’re bad.”

16. I’m so happy that “Your Guardian Angel” made it in the top ten!! I voted for it the first round. I really hope it wins because it is the perfect song for Twilight. 😀

20. Isn’t Lion for the Chronicles of Narnia representing Aslan? That makes way more sense for that movie than Twilight. That song was written for the movie, not ‘practically’ written for Twilight! I don’t think you should take a made for a movie song with a totally different theme and then apply it to something totally opposite like Twilight.

    I’m back to say that it’s still very annoying how people are all like ‘i love these top 10 overplayed crappy songs’. like i’ve said before, i aprove of Lion and the song by the spill canvas. Those are the only good ones in my oppinion. I mean, seriously people, do we want twilight to have a song that remembers it by being an overplayed song that is so obviously picked only for the name *cough* bleeding love *cough* *cough*.
    I like how some people agree with me about this stupid top 10 crud, at least i have some hope that we fanpires have some taste.

Not really, no. Sorry, excuse my snappishness, I’m just a little worn out over the’it’s the perfect song for Edward!’ stuff.

29. i just want to say, i fully disagree with stephanie in comment 275…the top 10 songs arent “barbie-ish” yes some of them are gay, but there are still good ones, a mojrity of them are good, and fyi- we all have brains.

I actually voted for Seventeen Forever (and nominated it) because the first time I heard it I thought of Edward and Bella, and Bella’s argument with Edward at the end of the book, where she tells him flat out “I won’t be seventeen forever” (prolly a misquote. I’m at work, so I can’t pull the book out and reference when I’m at my desk.). This song just was Twilight, and Edward and Bella, to me. Iris, as much as I love it, is about suicide, and would be much more Edward in New Moon if any (yes, it is seriously about suicide. Goo Goo Dolls talked about it in a concert). Bleeding Love is soooo overplayed that I would be very happy to never, ever hear it again (it was a gorgeous song in the beginning though). All Around Me is a song about God and the Holy Spirit. So I guess if I had to choose another song it would be Muse. Because Twilight was influenced by Muse and Stephenie loves Muse and I saw them live, they are amazing, way way way before Black Holes came out and people actually knew them (back when I was in college. Oh God, I’m dating myself again). Anyways, that’s just my logic for why I nominated and voted for Metro Station’s Seventeen Forever.

32. I agree with #270. I think Lion is a good song, and could even represent Twilight, but the problem is that it already represents another book/movie. I know, it can fit for Twilight too, but it was made for Aslan. I just don’t think it would be original enough to be the song for Twilight.

33. Wow, they’re all so good! A lot of them are creepily well chosen for the book or series. This is For Keeps by Spill Canvas is even very definitely about a vampire, but I don’t think it captures what makes Twilight special. I love the song though… I don’t know what to pick!

34. Bleeding Love is SOOOOO New Moon. When the song first came out I was like WOW that’s like the theme song for New Moon. But for Twilight? Really? I don’t think so. At first I was really excited to see Iris, but after thinking about it and listening to it, I think that would fit New Moon from Edwards POV. Out of that list, I thought Lion would be the best fit even though it’s for another movie. And yes, I realize “lion” is God, but Edward has a god complex anyways! 🙂

Lion by rebecca st james! i just read a comment saying that lion is amde for narnia.. well yeah it’s a bit odd… but iris was made for city of angels.. anywho.. not trying to be rude or anything i completely understand what youre saying.. 🙂

36. oh and lion is based in Aslan from the chronicles of narnia.. i know that the love to aslan is completely different from the one btwn bella and edwrard but once you lsiten to the lyrics and put narnia aside you can tell that the lyrics are simply perfect!

37. I think the lyrics in Lion make more sense for what they were written for then Twilight. And I can’t shake off the fact that it was for Chronicles of Narnia anyways.

38. Well I love This Is For Keeps but I think that it more describes either Eclipse or Breaking Dawn because it is Edward thinking of changing Bella.

    But Lion fits Bella’s POV and Twilight PERFECTLY

42. Lion is the PERFECT song!!! I can totally see that song playing on the credits. Time is Running Out does describe Twilight well but I honestly can’t see it playing durring credits!

    I like most of the songs listed- but I really hope that Bleeding love or Here (In Your Arms) does NOT win- I would repeatedly smash my head into the keyboard if either of those two won. (way too ‘mainstream-pop’ for my tastes)

44. everyone: woww this is getting a little hostile, don’t you think? remember that the song you’re bashing and saying is complete crap is one that might mean a lot to the many people who nominated it, which is why its on the top 10 list in the first place, mk?

    of course its ok to express your opinions about music [or whatever you want], but there are civilized ways to do it. for example, i’ve never cared for Muse but that doesn’t mean they “suck”, they just aren’t my style. and just because they aren’t my favorite doesn’t automatically disqualify them; their song is a great fit for twilight [although i thought others fit better].

    so please, lets not go calling everyone idiots just because you want “your” song to win and they chose something else.
