A guy reads Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (2009-2011)

New Moon Leaked Poster

I will not be posting the leaked New Moon poster today. If you are looking for it, try one of the Twilight websites that doesn’t respect copyright law.

The official release is tomorrow (May 19) at 7 AM EST. It will be here then. IS UP NOW!

As for why I’m not posting it: for anyone who runs a Twilight fansite, since there are many of you who read my blog, why not respect Summit’s wishes and post items when they say you can? Out of the top ten Twilight sites, only one posted the illegal image (unfortunately, it didn’t surprise me when they did). Summit is known to treat the fansites that respect them far better than those who do not. So even though you can easily find the image posted illegally on sites known for posting leaked images, those sites committed to Summit and Stephenie’s work are waiting.

  1. i respect summit and i also check fansites daily for updates. i was dissapointed when i recieved my twilight dvd that had the extras that i had already seen since i had looked htem up online because i couldnt wait.
either way, the saga is great and summit is doing a great job and its just that the fans are so excited that we dont realize that its dissrespectful, we are only thinking of seeing our favorite characters and finally seeing some real evidence of the movie.

i agree with a lot of the comments and i am proud that NMM took it off their site. but dont bash the fans, and also the websites who are also fans themselves. i feel in the heat of the moment we all do things without thinking. i love NMM and they are really the only website i check religously.

no hard feelings. its just a poster. 🙂

  2. i think you did the right thing by fixing the mistake. you run a great website that i check religiously. your doing an excellent job and no matter what you post, rumor or truth, you always update to let us know how it really is and whats really going on.

thank you for putting so much effort into your website. it keeps me in the loop and without you, i probably would be lost in the twilight saga world. thank you.

ps. its just the poster 🙂 no need to feel guilty or lose respect.

  3. I really respect that you decided to take down the leaked poster. And I also admire that you had the courage to post here.

In all fairness, which one of us hasn't made the mistake of getting excited and sharing something we maybe weren't supposed to? I'm not saying it's okay by any means, but we're human and we make mistakes. Stuff makes us happy, we want to share it. Good for you for taking it down.

And in honesty, I understand your…frustration…with the language used. It's a bit…harsh. I don't think Kaleb's wrong by any means in suggesting that the right thing is to not put the movie poster up until it is officially released, but I do think the wording comes off as more than a bit critical.

All respect meant to you, Kaleb. I respect that this is your website, and you have every right to post whatever you like. I just thought I'd give my (perhaps unwanted) two cents.

  4. OMG dude you r kidding right. The Washinton Post posted it. Not like someone made money off it or like you gave away the sex of a child when you were told not to. No one was even sure if one on google was really real……jacob with short hair?
Please are you in bed with Summit? Hopefully this is just a phase for you.
Besides its OK for you to be condesending…….

  5. hahahaha.
love your commment. hilarious. totally agree.

    just a poster kids.

  6. I'm with you Kaleb. I saw the poster on a few fansites, and didn't realize it was leaked. I already saw it, and I liked seeing it, but I could have waited an extra day. Honestly, I didn't even realize there was a poster coming out this soon, so I still would have been happily surprised whenever it came out. I just wish people running these sites would have a little integrity. I realize it's exciting to get some stuff for New Moon, but come on people, play by the rules.

Kaleb, you do a great job, and thanks for sticking up for what's right even though some people want to give you crap for voicing your stance. They are just mad, because they know what they did was wrong. Additionally, it doesn't matter if it is “Just a Poster” as some people are saying. Any information, pictures, video, posters, no matter how small or insignificant, is under copyright by Summit. Breaking the law is breaking the law.

  7. I could, but Summit has promised super-high resolution images, so I have to wait to get those 😀
Besides, it would kinda be backwards for me to actually download the leaked poster now and then use it on my site, ha ha.

  8. The first official “The Twilight Saga's New Moon” poster has leaked out. According to entertainment news source, it was accidentally uploaded by The Washington Times a day earlier than what has been scheduled.

  9. I think the “Twilight Saga: New Moon”, the concept, is just becoming so real to me.

The poster is coming out now; soon it will be the trailer, and movie spots — there will be more fresh interviews with cast, stars, and the director — then there will be countdowns and widgets out all supporting November 20th

    … It's just becoming real.
And it makes me happier than I've been since last November. =) The suspense! Gah.

  10. You go kaleb! I think it's admirable to wait, when you could have it now. I haven't seen it yet, I can wait…..41 minutes

  11. Kaleb is right. I didn't know which site he was talking about, but now I definitely do.

  12. Yeah, I feel terrible that I saw it, but I suppose I shouldn't go to sites like Twilight gossip anymore. Duh, me! Oh well. It is the site's fault…but also mine. =( Oh well.

Thank you for the honesty Kaleb!

  13. NMM shouldn't have posted it on their site in the first place. Goes to show who the real fans are… This is why they didn't get a set visit. NMM may be the most popular site, but it's not respected by Summit or true Twilight/Stephenie Meyer fans.

  14. NewMoonMovie.org, please do not feel the need to defend yourself. You did nothing wrong, it's true you put the poster up, but then you did take it down to respect the wishes of Summit. That is something to be appreciated for, not to be thrown pathetic online threats at by someone who likes to walk around with an I'm holier-than-you attitude.

I really admire you and commend you that you had the courage and honor to post here. Whereas some people apparently wanted to play mean little 1st first grader and call you out with rude, unacceptable threats, you took the high road. On the contrary, perhaps it is that 1st grader that needs to take a class in respect.

  15. Hello Marisa,

Perhaps the problem here is that you are missing the whole story, and are another spectator looking at things on the surface. Unfortunately, to tell the whole story would require significant words against the site and its management, something I have avoided entirely. Again, I did not name the site: the guilty site named itself.

Because what happens between Summit and our sites are private, I can't tell you the entire background of this either. But I will say that the website that posted the illegal content did not take it down due to some moral conscience: otherwise, they would not have posted content directly labeled as 'leaked' (AKA, illegal) while the other sites would follow the rules and not be able to post it. Again, this is not the first time this has happened, and that site has been ordered to remove illegal content before.

Twilight fansites are not gossip sites. To act like a gossip site, and then grudgingly take illegal content down when put under pressure, does not show 'courage and honor', nor does me calling them out on it playing a 'mean 1st grader'. I am an opinion blogger: because of my site's readership, I have a responsibility to help set the standard for what is posted. I stated my opinion, and I did not name names. Their constant behavior is unacceptable in this circle of fansites that has remained almost entirely positive until this point. Again, this is something you miss by being a spectator.

By following the rules and not posting the leak, every other Twilight fansite sacrificed thousands of hits. I have no control over Summit's decisions. But they, like every other Twilight fansite, do not look kindly upon those sites that act in this manner.

  16. I just have to say that I am so glad I didn't know the poster was coming out until 6:30 this morning. It totally suprised me. it really makes me mad that people defend sites that knowingly post leaked things. The right thing to do is to not post it. Posting it then taking it down doesn't make posting it in the first place okay.

Sites that posted it probably took it down only after being called out on it or getting in trouble with Summitt.

  17. “”Official New Moon poster leaked early by Washington Post! Here it is!!!!! (yes, this one deserves 5 !'s)””

Seriously, that's knowingly posting illegal stuff. Have they no respect for anything? There's a difference between accidently posting leaked things and knowingly doing it. Waiting to post it is the right thing to do and calling people out on it is too. If people aren't called out they will continue to do things illegally.

  18. Well, I actually stumbled upon it on accident–I always check newmoonmovie.org–I find it to be somewhat better than others sometimes, because it has a lot of updates that other sites don't. I freaked out, its so frikkin good! Who cares if it got leaked by that point! I was glad, because if I hadn't seen it then I'd have to wait until I got home from school today–TOO LONG!!

I mean, I understand it from a fansite point of view, obviously they want to keep their rep for summit, but if i had two buttons to click, one saying SEE NM POSTER HERE and the other saying WAIT 24 HOURS, heck yes I'd pick to see it. Just like Midnight Sun–it's not something you think about when Edward Cullen is involved!
    We can't all be saints.

  19. Kaleb, you are honestly my hero 🙂
thanks so much for being respectful, and being able to put the guilty sites in their place.
    MuchLove (L)

  20. i agree with Kaleb that people should respect when things should be put out and i totally agree with kaleb at that point. Fans sites who respect what a company decides on

  21. man i wish i could write like you.
when your rebutting to other people you sound so smart ><
i sound like a six year old on red cordial, lol.
but hey you are an author. ahahah

ps; you should definately come to aus for a bran hambric tour!

  22. i reather see the film were they have it filming thats the only thing that is great

  23. Actually, you are completely wrong. Absolutely no one from Summit or otherwise contacted me to remove the poster. I did it completely of my own volition.

By making up “facts” like this as if you had an insider view of my email inbox is amazing given the one you're accusing me of gossip.

  24. Wow, talk about higher than thou attitude. How does your head feel all the way inside Summit's ass? If Summit didn't want the poster leaked they should have kept it under wraps better. Stop sucking up to them.

  25. According to your logic, it isn't the robber's fault, it is the bank's fault for not locking their money up tighter.

Some of us actually choose to follow the rules and not post illegal content. Just because we CAN post illegal things does not mean that we SHOULD.
